Highly regarded as the most accurate and reliable timepieces on the market, Swiss pocket watches traditionally feature a movement that’s been manufactured in Switzerland. However, from 2017 the guidelines that determines if a watch can be sold as ‘Swiss Made’ have changed slightly. Now, all pocket watches that are awarded the ‘Swiss Made’ approval require both the movement and casing to be sourced and assembled within Switzerland, with 60% of the watch’s manufacturing cost being attributed to parts made in Sweden - up from the original 50%. Whilst this may not seem like a significant increase, this new legislation will ensure all pocket watch brands adhere to the rules to craft high quality, Swiss-made pocket watches.
Swiss pocket watches are typically wind-up operated, the the inner mechanisms powering the hands of the watch. This is why Swiss made mechanisms are so sought after; the Swiss internals such as cogs and springs are considered the highest quality in the world, and therefore results in giving the most accurate time for the wearer. This also increased the watches reliability, with Swiss watches known to continue working for decades, if not centuries, if properly maintained by adhering to recommended service intervals.
Amongst the most popular collections of Swiss made pocket watches are those manufactured by long-standing favourite watchmakers Bernex - with several models available in different designs and finishes such as gold and silver. However we also have a selection available from Woodford, with various designs to suit all styles.
